About the role

Mirai is an Italian maritime-robotics company building autonomous surface vessels and the software platform that operates them — from our lab to the sea, from the cloud to networks we don't control.

We are seeking a hands-on Systems Administrator to join a small, senior team. Your ground spans three worlds: the lab — our on-premise environment for development, integration and rehearsal, with the servers, networks, test benches and clusters where systems are proven before they touch the water; the public-facing and shared services the company and its partners rely on every day; and deployments with public-sector customers, in institutional and government environments — including disconnected ones — where procedure, patience and documentation matter as much as skill.

Your work will be visible end to end, from the lab bench to vessels at sea.

Key Responsibilities

Lab & On-Premise Infrastructure

  • Run our on-premise lab environment for development, integration and rehearsal: servers, networks, test benches and the clusters where systems are proven before they touch the water.
  • Administer Linux hosts end to end (Debian/Ubuntu family): networking, VLAN segregation, storage, systemd, containerd/Docker.

Platform & Cloud Operations

  • Operate our Kubernetes-based runtime across development, AWS (EC2/EKS) and on-prem deployments.
  • Develop DevOps, MLOps and big-data ETL jobs.
  • Develop SDN procedures spanning from VPC environments (AWS) to complex VPN and IP routing control and data planes.

Shared Services

  • Keep the services the company and its partners rely on every day simply up: identity and access, DNS, VPN, mail, backups, monitoring and the exposed endpoints.

Field Deployments & Robotics

  • Prepare and execute field deployments and commissioning with public-sector customers — including disconnected environments — keeping audit-grade records of every apply.
  • Join sea trials and operational exercises — travel to ports, labs and customer sites, mostly in Puglia/Italy.
  • Contribute to NVIDIA and ROS 2 based robotics applications at the container, Linux and external CU level, including sensors and actuators configuration.

Qualifications

Required

  • Domicile in Puglia — hard requirement: the role includes on-site presence in the lab and occasional travel to ports and customer sites.
  • Solid Linux administration and networking fundamentals.
  • Comfort with containerized systems and automation.
  • A bias for simple, documented, repeatable solutions — our standard is tools (and people) that don't improvise at 2 a.m. on a pier.
  • Working English; Italian for institutional contexts.

Preferred

  • Experience with regulated or public-administration environments.
  • Experience with NVIDIA Jetson-class edge devices.

What we offer

  • Competitive salary (€30,000–40,000 gross annual salary, depending on seniority).
  • Work with frontier AI models and processes.
  • A small team of top-notch engineers where your work is visible end to end — lab bench to vessels at sea — and where decisions are written down, not tribal.

If you want to run infrastructure that reaches from a lab bench in Puglia to autonomous vessels at sea, Mirai is where you do it.
