About the role

The people we hire will determine the future of Mirai. Your job is to find them before anyone else does.

Mirai is building the autonomous operating system for the maritime world. Our mission is to make seas a safe province for all humankind by enabling boats to navigate autonomously through a software-first platform powered by artificial intelligence, robotics and advanced perception systems.

We combine AI, robotics, computer vision, sensor fusion and edge computing to build autonomous navigation technology for recreational, commercial and government vessels. Backed by experienced founders and leading investors, we're assembling a world-class team of engineers, roboticists and builders from our headquarters in Bari to build one of Europe's top dual-use (defence and industrial) technology companies.

We're still at the beginning. The people joining today won't simply become employees — they'll define the company for years to come.

At Mirai, recruiting isn't a support function. It's one of the company's most strategic capabilities. As our Founding Talent Acquisition Manager, you'll build the engine that enables Mirai to attract exceptional people faster than companies many times our size. You'll work side by side with the founders to identify the talent that will build our products, shape our culture and accelerate our growth.

This isn't about filling vacancies. It's about convincing extraordinary people to join an ambitious mission before everyone else realizes how special it is. If Mirai becomes one of Europe's leading robotics companies, recruiting will have been one of the reasons why.

Key Responsibilities

Hiring Strategy

  • Design and own Mirai's hiring strategy across technical and business functions.
  • Partner directly with founders and hiring managers to define hiring priorities and organizational design.
  • Help shape Mirai's culture by ensuring every new hire raises the bar.

Technical Recruiting

  • Recruit exceptional software engineers across AI, robotics, autonomy, embedded systems, cloud infrastructure and product engineering.
  • Lead hiring for robotics, hardware, electronics and mechatronics profiles as the company grows.

Sourcing & Process

  • Build proactive sourcing strategies to identify and engage exceptional candidates before they're actively looking.
  • Design, improve and scale Mirai's recruiting processes and interview framework.
  • Build recruiting analytics and continuously improve hiring quality, speed and candidate experience.

Candidate Experience & Employer Branding

  • Deliver an outstanding candidate experience from first conversation through onboarding.
  • Build long-term relationships with universities, engineering communities and research centers.
  • Define and execute Mirai's employer branding strategy, positioning Mirai as one of Europe's most attractive destinations for ambitious engineers, roboticists and builders.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3–7 years of experience in Talent Acquisition or Technical Recruiting.
  • Experience recruiting software engineers in startups, scaleups or high-growth technology companies.
  • Understanding of modern engineering organizations and the profiles behind AI, backend, frontend, embedded software, DevOps, infrastructure and robotics.
  • Confidence engaging with highly technical candidates and hiring managers.
  • Experience sourcing exceptional candidates through LinkedIn, communities, referrals and direct outreach.
  • Experience building or contributing to employer branding initiatives.
  • Fluent communication in both Italian and English.
  • A preference for building processes from scratch rather than maintaining existing ones.
  • Ownership, speed, and the ability to thrive in fast-changing environments.
  • The belief that exceptional companies are built by exceptional people.

Preferred

  • Experience hiring robotics, autonomous systems, embedded software or hardware engineers.
  • Previous experience in robotics, aerospace, automotive, defence or other deep-tech industries.
  • Experience scaling engineering teams from fewer than 20 people to more than 50.
  • An existing network within the European software or robotics ecosystem.

  • Direct exposure to experienced founders and company leadership.
  • A unique chance to shape the culture of one of Europe's most ambitious robotics startups.
